Finance Minister Maria Wilson has announced that the city of Chennai will procure 1,000 new air-conditioned electric buses to bolster the metropolitan public transport fleet.
In addition to the vehicle procurement, the government has allocated 500 crore rupees to upgrade infrastructure at bus depots to support the operation and maintenance of these electric vehicles.
