Senior AIADMK leaders S.P. Velumani and Natham Viswanathan have issued a statement criticizing General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami’s leadership and election alliance decisions. They attributed the party's defeats in the 2021 and 2026 assembly elections, as well as the 2024 parliamentary polls, to flawed decision-making by the top leadership.
The leaders specifically alleged that the party missed an opportunity to form an alliance with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam for the 2026 assembly elections. They further claimed that the leadership showed hesitation in partnering with parties such as the BJP, PMK, DMDK, and Puthiya Tamilagam in previous cycles. According to the statement, these decisions, which they described as contrary to party policy, led to candidate losses and significant financial setbacks for the organization.
