The Greater Chennai Corporation has dismissed reports circulating on social media regarding a property tax hike as entirely false. Officials have urged the public to disregard these rumors, clarifying that no general increase in tax rates has been implemented.
Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan explained that the corporation has only adjusted property assessments for those previously underpaying, based on updated data. Residents who wish to contest these revised assessments may file an appeal with their respective Zonal Deputy Commissioner within 15 days. The corporation has committed to resolving all such appeals within 30 days.
