FCRA Amendment Bill Referred to Joint Parliamentary Committee

The Union government has referred the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment (FCRA) Bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee following intense opposition from various political parties. Critics of the bill have alleged that the proposed legislation would adversely impact minority organizations.

Addressing Parliament, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju defended the move, stating that stringent rules and regulations are essential to govern foreign financial contributions.
