DMK legislator Thangam Thennarasu has questioned the state government's revenue deficit calculations presented in the interim budget. He noted that while the interim budget estimated the revenue deficit at Rs 48,696 crore, this figure included a Rs 11,000 crore allocation for pension schemes.
However, Thennarasu pointed out that other official data indicates a revenue deficit of Rs 55,775 crore, excluding the pension funds. During the assembly session, he demanded an explanation for how such a significant discrepancy in the deficit occurred within a three-month period.
