The Supreme Court has issued a stern directive to the Tamil Nadu government to immediately remove all encroachments within the Meghamalai Tiger Reserve. The court ordered the state to clear existing kapok plantations and acquire the land, while also mandating the complete demolition of all structures located within the protected forest area.
Rejecting the state government's request for an extension, the bench insisted that the previous deadline of August 28 for clearing the area must be upheld. The judges warned that if the government fails to comply with these instructions, they will be compelled to deploy paramilitary forces to ensure the removal of the encroachments.
