The Supreme Court has issued a firm directive to completely remove kapok plantations from the Meghamalai Tiger Reserve. The court emphasized that there should be no compromise in clearing encroachments within the protected forest areas.
Furthermore, the court has prohibited the issuance of land titles within reserve forests and ordered the immediate disconnection of electricity and water supplies to illegal structures. To ensure the protection of the region, the court has also authorized the deployment of paramilitary forces if necessary.
