Minister Prabhu has released photographic evidence documenting the disappearance of several hills across Tamil Nadu due to extensive quarrying. The report highlights the loss of various landmarks, including the Brahmari hills in Perambalur, which vanished in 2006, and the Koneripalayam hills, which have been excavated since 2004. Other sites in Perambalur, such as the Sengunam hills, have also been lost to mining activities since 2026.
In Madurai, the Sarkkarai Peer hill and a hill in Kondayampatti village have disappeared since 2003 and 2021, respectively. Similar losses were reported in Tirupattur, where an Amburpettai village hill was excavated in 2024, and in Ranipet, where the Ananthalai hill has been missing since 1998. Additionally, two hills in Muthur village, Coimbatore, were lost in 2022, alongside the Kona hill in Tenkasi, which has been missing since 1999.
