TVK MLA Sathya has urged the government to raise the legal marriage age for women from 18 to 21. The legislator formally presented this demand during the ongoing session of the Legislative Assembly.
Sathya highlighted that early marriages are on the rise due to factors such as family poverty and concerns over social instability. She noted that these circumstances often force girls into marriage as early as 16, leading to many becoming mothers by the age of 18.
