The Madras High Court has reserved its judgment in the case challenging the Speaker’s decision to accept the resignation letters of AIADMK MLAs. During the proceedings, counsel for AIADMK whip Agiri Krishnamurthy argued that the MLAs had met with a minister and aligned themselves with another faction just minutes after submitting their resignations.
The petitioner contended that the Speaker’s inquiry was not merely a formality but a constitutional obligation that had not been conducted in a meaningful manner. Following the conclusion of final arguments, the court adjourned the matter and reserved its verdict without specifying a date.
