The Bombay High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the 2020 death of Disha Salian, a former celebrity manager. The court directed the agency to register an FIR and assign the case to a senior officer following a petition filed by the deceased's father, Satish Salian.
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. While local police initially registered an Accidental Death Report and concluded the case as a suicide, her father challenged these findings, alleging that she was gang-raped and murdered.
Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale presided over the bench that issued the directive. The court confirmed that Satish Salian will have the liberty to challenge the findings of the subsequent CBI investigation.
