The Communist Party of India (CPI) has formally demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately abandon its plans to construct a new state secretariat in Chennai’s Pattinapakkam area. The party has expressed strong opposition to the proposed project.
The CPI warned that the development would jeopardize the livelihoods of the local fishing community. Furthermore, the party alleged that the project would severely damage the coastal ecosystem and restrict public access to the beach.
