The Tamil Nadu government has reported a 38 percent increase in bus operations at the Kilambakkam Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) during the recent Vinayakar Chathurthi festival compared to the previous year. Data indicates that 4,629 buses were operated over the two-day period in 2026, up from 3,313 buses in 2025, marking an additional 1,266 services.
Among the state transport corporations, the Tirunelveli division recorded the highest growth with a 113 percent increase in operations. Other divisions, including Villupuram, Kumbakonam, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, and the State Express Transport Corporation, also saw significant rises in service frequency to accommodate passenger demand during the festival period.
