CPI(M) state secretary P. Shanmugam has clarified that the party’s decision to contest the by-election independently does not signal support for the DMK. He emphasized that the Left parties' choice to field their own candidates remains distinct from the DMK's political position.
Despite this independent electoral stance, Shanmugam reaffirmed that the CPI(M) will continue to support the governance of the TVK. He stated that the decision to contest separately should not be interpreted as an alignment with the DMK.
