Heavy rainfall lashed the Delhi-NCR region on Monday, causing widespread waterlogging, severe traffic congestion, and the diversion of 15 Delhi-bound flights. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the capital, warning of continued light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
In response to the flooding, Gurgaon authorities issued a work-from-home advisory for August 25 for all corporate offices and educational institutions. This measure aims to reduce traffic volume, allowing civic agencies to clear waterlogged roads and conduct necessary drainage repairs following the 70mm of rainfall recorded in the district by Monday afternoon.
Delhi also faced significant disruptions, with major roads and underpasses submerged and commuters reporting heavy delays across the city. Municipal teams have been deployed to manage the situation, with officials actively monitoring flood-prone areas and utilizing pumping equipment to mitigate the impact of the downpour.
