A 19-month-old child has become the youngest organ donor in Tamil Nadu under the state's organ transplant program. The procedure took place at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai following the child's death from brain stem failure.
The toddler had been receiving intensive care for six days after suffering from hydrocephalus. Following the child's passing, the parents consented to the donation, allowing medical teams to harvest the organs in accordance with established clinical protocols.
