The central government has announced the immediate lifting of the four-year ban on wheat exports. This policy shift is intended to protect the interests of domestic farmers and stabilize market prices by preventing a decline in wheat values.
The decision follows a record-breaking harvest of 120 million tonnes of wheat across the country for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Authorities stated that the surplus production prompted the government to ease the existing export restrictions.
