Hundreds of students were left stranded in school buses for up to eight hours on Monday as heavy monsoon rains caused severe waterlogging across Gurgaon. Buses departing from a school in Sector 47 were trapped in gridlock, with many children unable to reach their homes until late in the evening.
Anxious parents reported that vehicles were stuck for hours, particularly near Subhash Chowk, where water levels reached approximately 3.5 feet. Many parents were forced to wade through the flooded streets to rescue their children from the buses and carry them to safety themselves.
Families expressed deep frustration over the city's recurring infrastructure failures during rainfall. Parents criticized the government for the lack of adequate drainage and emergency measures, describing the ordeal as a horrifying experience that left children hungry, stressed, and vulnerable.
