A political dispute has erupted between the DMK and AIADMK regarding the 10.5 percent reservation for the Vanniyar community. Minister E.V. Velu stated that the DMK government is committed to implementing the quota without legal complications, while noting that the policy was originally introduced during the previous AIADMK administration.
In response, former AIADMK minister C.V. Shanmugam alleged that a relative of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had filed a court challenge against the reservation. Shanmugam further urged the government to refrain from disparaging those who campaigned for the quota.
